Spinning Out Of Control

Sculpt DC image c/o sculptdc.com

I know, I am late to the party with Spin but I am addicted. I was first introduced to the high energy cycling classes through my friend. We went to a new studio in Capital Hill called Biker Barre, which I highly recommend if you are in the area. What I loved about the class was that it was done in candle light. I did not have to worry about feeling self conscious about the pounds that I have put on. All I had to do was focus on keeping my feet moving to the beat.

While I loved Biker Barre, its location was not as convenient for me to get to after work, I made the switch to Sculpt DC.  Sculpt's instructors are high energy and oh boy they will make you sweat! I took the plunge and bought a monthly membership here. I am looking forward to seeing my results at the end of the month. Even if the scale doesn't move, I already feel better and that's what really matters.

Whats your exercise of choice?

Fit Fridays: Workout Plan

It's the day after Thanksgiving (and ive already had left overs for breakfast) and surprisingly I didn't eat myself into a food coma. Over the past couple of months I have gone from a size 4/6 to a 10/12. I was working out like a mad woman and lost 6 pounds which I was elated. However, when I cam back from Canada I lost my motivation and gained those pounds right on back. So once again I am on my gym grind and I hope this time it sticks. I found this workout plan on Pinterest and thought I would share it with you guys.

Going Green!

As you all know I have been trying to shed some pounds and so far failing miserably! I am not giving up however. Eat veggies is not hard for as I LOOOOOOOOVE Spinach, but when it comes to fruit it is a struggle with the exception of the occasional mango. So when my roommate introduced me to Green Smoothies I was intrigued. I have seen them everywhere and couldn't imagine them tasting good. One Kale, Peach, and Mango smoothie later I was hooked. I plan on drinking a smoothie every morning before work. I am thinking about throwing in some oats to add a bit more fiber. The beauty of Green Smoothies are that they are so versatile and imaginative. Have you guys tried them? If so what are some of your favorite recipes?

Work Out Motivation

I have watched myself go from a size 4 to a size 6 to my current size 8. I have found myself not loving my body to the fullest lately. I used to be a gym rat until one fateful day I lost my sports bras (only to discover them months later mixed up in my sisters clothes). I know... I know... I know I should've just bought new ones instead of slacking off. Now im finding it so hard to get the motivation to work out even though i'm unhappy with current state. What is odd about this whole situation is that I LOVE the feeling I get after a great workout and yet I still remain stagnant. How do you guys find the motivation to workout? I need serious help!

EVOO to the Rescue!

I despise Rachel Ray, I am not really sure why but I do. However, both Rachel and I have one thing in common and it is our love for EVOO. EVOO for those who do not know is extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil is a great moisturizer that I use both in my hair and on my skin.  Olive oil is rich in vitamins and is a natural anti-aging agent.

When using olive oil in my hair, I usually use it to "grease" my scalp or as a hot oil treatment.

When using as a hot oil treatment simply heat the oil in the microwave. Only heat the oil up for a few seconds because you do not want to burn your scalp. After the oil has been heated pour it on your hair and use your fingers (or a comb...i have locs so no comb necessary) to evenly distribute the oil throughout your hair.  Then cover with a shower cap. You can either sit under the dryer or wrap your covered head with a towel to produce heat. I usually let it sit for about 10-30 minutes (depending on how i feel)  until I wash it out. The end result should be soft and shiny hair!!!!

When I use olive oil as a skin moisturizer, I either use it mixed in my lotion or solo fresh out the shower. EVOO equals soft kissable skin, I guarantee you will not be able to take your hands off of yourself. I have noticed that my skin has begun to look more smooth and even. I have also noticed that my stretch marks seem to be fading. (YAY!)

With that being said I hope EVOO works as well for you all as it has been for me.

Excercise...It Makes You Happy!

Today I woke up melancholy due to a number of reasons, but no particular one reason. (I know that makes no sense...) You know one of those days where you wake up and think im 24, single, and I have no real sense of where im heading career wise. Yeah...it was one of those days.

Any who...

My friend suggested I work out my sadness and that I did. I love love love Exercise TV! There are soooo many exercise videos to download for low prices, and they even have free streaming videos. What I really love about the website is that I do not have to leave home to get a good workout. I decided to try the Total Knockout Body video and I really enjoyed it. I never tried kick boxing until today and I can see myself getting addicted. (I picture myself kicking ex-boyfriends and such lol) I'm sooo out of shape its disgusting but thats another post in itself.

I felt so much better after working out.
What do you all do to get over a bout of sadness?

Miami Prep

I've been trying to get my fit on by jump roping and running. I have been sore for a couple of days but i'm loving it. I'm hoping to be beach ready by October since i'll be heading to SOBE. I've been trying to stick to a stern 1200 calorie a day diet, but i must admit today I had a BK cheese burger and fries. (I'm still below 1200 though...but not too below :( )

Don't judge me..it wasn't my fault, the burger was waiting downstairs for me. I didn't even ask for it but i couldn't let it go to waste lol.

Anywho...
I want to get back to this. (2007)

or just get Ms. JanJan to continue taking good pictures at this angle and wear 5 inch heels all the time lol...

ahhhh what a good angle will do!

Are You In or Are You Out?!?!!

Today I decided to start a diet a mucccch needed diet. I have been noticing an added bounce in my step and its definitely not from confidence lol. With my new found jigglyness I find myself cringing with each step I make. Well I finally am putting my foot down...or should I say my fork. I'll miss my beloved croissants, peanut m&ms, and other deliciously calorie ridden foods.

However...I don't want to do it alone. I am extending the offer to my lovely readers to join me. I will be dieting until I go to Miami in October.

Are you in or are you out?

Sizzling Summer Legs...

It's ridiculously hot outside...it reminds me of 2 things: 1. My home state of Texas (the great state) 2. Summer is around the corner. Summer aka shorts/bikini/micro mini season .... as much as i love it I get super self conscious about my legs. My legs = jello. I cringe with every step because of the extreme jiggle. (lol im ridiculous) So this summer I want to get it right and tight by implementing these work outs.

1. Running
2. Squats
3. Lunges
4. Yoga! Yoga! Yoga!

and hopefully by my birthday ill have Rhianna legs!
